Mei Zhan Jin Wuyi Black tea is a great combination of earthy and confectionary notes. This tea from Verdant Tea is another result of a great partnership with the Li Family out of the Fujian province, China. Mei Zhan Jin doesn’t sip like dark oxidized black tea, which is one of the unique factors, to me. The lighter amber color suggests a lighter oxidation.
In this post, you will hear more about Mei Zhan Jin Wuyi Black tea from Verdant Tea.

Mei Zhan Jin Dry
This is a beautiful tea with long, almost needle-like leaves. It is crisp to the touch and has a bit of a light color, again, suggesting that it is not a deep oxidation. There is an aroma of dry wood, forest floor, malt, and peach. It Is interesting to have black tea with fruit-forward notes. Not something I come across often, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Mei Zhan Jin Steeped
The aroma shifts a bit once brewed. There is some caramel, toasted nut, and plum, and it has a bit of a milky sensation. The confectionery comes out in the aroma. Once we go to taste, some earthy notes show up again. I tasted wet leaf, dark fruit, and some malt. it is a smooth, rounded sip with some astringency on the back end. Such a wonderful and interesting experience.
