Father’s Day is right around the corner. If the father in your life has been looking into upping his tea game, you want to make sure he has the best tea and accessories to keep his passion going. Maybe he is also new to tea and looking for what direction to go. I love drinking tea with my dad. Because of my passion, he has examined teas he may never have tried. He also has growing stash of tea set aside for himself when he doesn’t feel like coffee.
Father’s Day is a great reason to pick up new tea, teaware, or accessories. These five gift ideas have all been used and approved by me!
In this post, you will check out five Father’s Day gifts you can bring up for that special guy in your life!
1. Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Kettle
The Fellow Stagg EKG Gooseneck Kettle is what I use at home and it’s perfect for him. The gooseneck is essential because it allows you to have very precise pouring. If he enjoys his coffee as well, this is great for a pour over! I use my gaiwan and Kyusu a lot when drinking tea, allowing me to have an even pour with lots of control. The temperature can go up to 212 degrees. It is very portable because it detaches from the heater base. You can read more about this kettle and others on my article, here.
2. Gaiwan
My Gaiwan is by far my most used tea ware. I use it daily, and it is never a single steep. The gaiwan was my introduction to brewing and tasting higher quality loose teas. Come across most tea drinkers, and you will find that they own a gaiwan. It can accommodate a range of teas, although I use it mostly for my blacks and oolongs. It rarely requires using a sift to help keep leaves out of your tea because when you pour, it traps the leaves inside. For sure, if the father in your life is looking for an update on tea ware, a gaiwan should be on the list.
3. Father’s Day Tea Cups Gift Idea
Tea cups can be dangerous, at least for me. I love a good tea cup. For many tea drinkers, it can be about style, or even what tea they are drinking that decides the cup. My favorite have been the double wall glass tea cups. These pair perfectly with your gaiwan, because they are for single serve. I use mine everyday. They help to not burn your hand, and it reveals the color of your tea very well, which is important to me. I want to see the color. They are easy to clean, and not expensive. Great for Father’s Day.
4. Father’s Day Tea Tray Idea
When you start to buy all of your tea and tea accessories, having a place to put them while you are brewing, and sipping is important. You will find yourself trying to fit it all on a plate or maybe a chopping board, anything you can find. A tea tray, is a great investment for Father’s Day. I have many, but my favorite is my bamboo tray. It’s small, fits the gaiwan and tea cup, and is easy to clean.
5. Great Tea
Finally, we get to the tea. If the father in your life is just starting his tea drinking journey, I would suggest a good black tea to start with. Tea, being like wine, has countless variations that have unique flavor profiles. I did just try a Dianhong from Chen Sheng Hao Puerh, and it was delicious. Something with gold tips such as the 2022 Black Tea Lan Fang Dianhong can be good. These tend to have a malty, dark fruit profile. Mark T Wendell also has a wonderful variety of teas. You can use my code theteasideoflife for 15% off an order of $50 dollars or more. Yunnan Golden Buds or China Yunnan can be good intros in black tea.
An awesome tea experience is like anything else. The better the product and gear, the better your sessions will be. These five tea gift ideas will help him be well on his way to an exciting tea journey!
