Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Tea Lover

A Date At A Tea House
Nothing says “I love you” more than going on a date at a tea house. Many of these are more about the British high tea experience. You will choose a tea from a menu, then be served a tower of tea sandwiches, desserts, and, usually, scones with clotted cream and curd. Every tea house tends to have its own spin, whether in the food or the decor. It’s easy to search for the closest tea house to you. I love anytime I get to have high tea. The little bites, paired with the tea of your choice, are a wonderful way to spend time with a loved one or for a really great first date!

New Tea Cups
Although you may feel that the tea lover in your life has enough tea cups, I assure you, there can always be more. Tea cups come in different sizes, styles, and materials. Some tea cups are used for very specific tea, such as a Japanese green tea or a high mountain oolong from Taiwan! If your special someone is new to tea, it’s easy enough to find a variety of tea cups online, such as Japanese-style cups or clear glass cups. My personal favorite style lets you see the tea’s color clearly, making the experience even more enjoyable.

A New Kettle
A new kettle can be an excellent gift for your tea lover. If they are a seasoned tea drinker and their last kettle has fallen apart, the chance to upgrade is truly exciting. Gooseneck kettles are great for precision pouring and create less mess. Also, look for a kettle with adjustable temperature control, as it suits different tea types. One brand I have used for some time is the Fellow tea kettle; it’s been reliable, although it’s a bit pricier. Choose based on your recipient’s preferences and needs.
A New or First Tea Pot
The first teapot to start someone off on their journey is special. You can check out the story of my first teapot and how it started my tea journey. A new teapot doesn’t have to be anything special, especially for someone new to learning how to brew tea. If the tea lover in your life is a bit more advanced, there is great teaware out there, some of it quite expensive. Two tea pots I typically recommend keeping in your cabinet are a Kyusu for Japanese green teas and a Yixing clay pot. I love Yixing clay because it can host a wide variety of higher-oxidized teas, from oolong loose leaf tea to black loose leaf tea to Puerh. Also, have fun with it! The variety is endless, making it good Valentines Day gift for that tea lover.

New Tea
What better way to tell the tea lover in your life than to pick them up some tea? Help them try something new or explore their favorite teas in new ways. There is no better time than now to access amazing tea from around the world. If you are looking for a few suggestions, I have some below to hopefully spark some curiosity:
- Kettl– This is my first stop for Japanese green tea. The quality is unmatched and shipping is quick because it is in the US.
- Yunnan Sourcing – My go-to for everything black tea. They have access to amazing variety from different years. Also ships from within the US.
- Floating Leaves – For Oolongs, there is no better place than Floating Leaves out of Seattle. They speak oolong, that’s how serious they are. Amazing variety and fast shipping.
- Ikkyu – Another go-to for Japanese green tea. Their selection is extensive which is why I like them. If I’m looking to have access to a wider menu, Ikkyu is great. It does ship from Japan but is usually very quick.
- Verdant Tea – An exception brand focusing on bringing teas to the world from China. They are super supportive of the farmers they work with, give you a ton of details on the tea and story of the family who produced it. I love their variety as well.
These gifts pair perfectly: enjoy a tea house date, then savor new tea with a new teapot, kettle, and cups. Your tea lover gifts will be a hit this Valentine’s Day!
