Part of my journey in learning about Japanese green tea has been the discovery of Japanese black tea.
There is real beauty with Japanese green tea. Each variety I try from a different farmer or prefecture adds very subtle changes in flavor. The art of brewing in the Kyusu creates an meaningful experience every time.
Hanging out this afternoon, I’ve been reflecting on the start of 2022. I have a ton to be grateful for. Tea challenges me to keep learning, keep experimenting, share what I know, keep having fun, and just to keep going.
Tea at 8,600 feet, surrounded by amazing Colorado views just hits different. I also love that I am able to still enjoy my Sencha because of the great travel kit my brother and sister-in-law gifted me. Just had to get some hot water and I was good to go.
A week ago, my aunt brought these hand down tea pots. They were from my late Japanese aunt Fusa. I was gifted teapots from her that I have on the IG blog already and these are two new beautiful pieces. One is totally unique. I love them both and I say drink more tea with the ones you love. I wish I would have been further into my tea journey while she was alive so that I could ask her about tea in Japan. I took pictures of them under my parents Japanese maple tree.
This Imperial Pure Bud black tea from Yunnan was a surprise to me. I’m a fan of those dark roasted, sweeter, less floral black teas. This has a malty aroma and taste, and little to no astringency. I also love the twist form process of the tea and the color! @yunnan_sourcing has a few black teas in this style.
